Sunrise Scramble : Glendo State Park (April 25-26, 2026)

Sunrise Scramble is an overnight, timed trail running event held at Glendo State Park with Two Moon Campground as the event base. Runners complete as many loops as they can during their chosen timed event. The event offers four timed options: 3 hours, 5 hours, 10 hours, and 24 hours. Only loops completed before the official sunrise count toward a runner’s total mileage. Entrants begin on a roughly 1 mile loop and then continue onto longer loops that all start and finish at the campground.

Course, distances and rules

  • Loop 1: 1.41 miles, 157 ft gain
  • Loop 2: 3.53 miles, 410 ft gain
  • Loop 3: 5.37 miles, 743 ft gain
  • Loop 4: 7.78 miles, 1,148 ft gain
  • Loop 5: 13.6 miles, 2,300 ft gain

Runners must check in with a timing volunteer after each loop so miles are recorded; timing is done on paper. Loop 5 requires at least 1.5 liters of fluid and 300 emergency calories carried in addition to planned consumption. Rules include no dogs on the course, no pacers for the 3, 5 and 10 hour events, crew may not give aid outside the main aid station, and no poles on the first loop. Participants are asked to leave no trace; intentional littering can lead to disqualification. In wet or muddy conditions, runners are asked to run through muddy sections to avoid trail widening.
