Sunrise Scramble : Glendo State Park

Sunrise Scramble is a night trail running event hosted at Glendo State Park, Wyoming, with the Two Moon Campground as the event base. The full event is a roughly 10-hour timed race that runs from sunset to sunrise. There are also 3-hour and 5-hour options. The organizer notes that 2026 dates are not firm. The park includes multi-use trails around Glendo Reservoir and a mix of land and water areas.

Course, format and rules

The event uses looped courses that start and finish at Two Moon Campground. There are five loops with varying distances:

  • 1.41 miles
  • 2.77 miles
  • 5.37 miles
  • 7.78 miles
  • 13.6 miles

Entrants start on the short loop and then choose additional loops during the event. Loop details include elevation gain and maximum elevation for each loop. Loop 5 requires mandatory gear checks before departure and a minimum of 1.5 liters of fluid plus 300 emergency calories carried in the pack. Runners must check in with the timing volunteer between loops and report when they are finished. Other rules include leave-no-trace practices, no pacers, no dogs on the course, limited crew aid (only at the main aid station), and a request to run through muddy sections to avoid widening trails. Electrical sites at the campground have power, but water and dump stations may be unavailable early in the season. Costs are listed by event length.
