Step Outdoors TRYathlon & 5K : Hills Creek State Park
The Step Outdoors TRYathlon is an introductory multi sport event held at Hills Creek State Park in Wellsboro, PA on September 19, 2026. The event emphasizes participation and personal challenge; teams of two or three may share the three legs, or an individual may complete all three. Since 2015 there are no categories and all finishers are recognized. The park landscape offers spectator-friendly viewing along the routes.
The course uses a mix of park roads and trails. Routes are the same as in recent years and include a stand-alone 5K that starts at the same location and time as the TRYathlon.
Distances:
- 5 km run or trail walk around the lake perimeter
- ~1.75 miles paddle around temporary markers on the lake
- 8.0 miles bike on hard top and dirt roads in and around the park
Registration is capped at 150 participants. Online registration opens after June 1 and deadlines are listed as TBA; day-of registration returns for 2026 but closes at 9:30am. Check-in on the event day is open from 8:30 to 9:30am. An event shirt is guaranteed for registrations completed by September 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
