The courses run on technical rock and dirt single track with rocky and rooty sections and bridges. The route uses the Tree Trail and Lookout Mountain Loop and includes slight elevation per 5K loop. The setting contains rolling hills, red rock cliffs, and flowing rivers.

The start and finish are located near the park pavilion, with parking available in the pavilion parking lot. This is a cupless race, so participants should bring a cup or bottle for aid stations. The event provides aid station hydration and snacks, course marking and support, on-course photography, and volunteers.

All finishers receive a stainless steel St. Patrick's Trek bottle. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, a first place Old Timer award for age 50 plus in each gender, and a Dead Freakin' Last award. Registration closes at midnight before the race or when the 100 participant capacity is reached. No race day registration is available.

Race credits are available with at least 30 days notice; credits must be used within one year. Discounts are offered for active duty military and first responders with ID. Holiday Races does not ship apparel or medals for no-shows. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
