South Texas Ultra

The South Texas Ultra is a trail running event held on the H.W. Lewis Ranch in Leakey, Texas, in the Texas Hill Country. The event offers multiple distances on rugged ranch terrain beginning and ending at the ranch.

The course uses rocky, dirt, and grass ATV trails and is described as fully marked and supported. The 50K follows a looped course with about 10 miles per loop and more than 2,300 feet of total elevation gain, including multiple substantial climbs per loop. Course rules define loop counts by distance: the 50K is three loops, the 35K two loops, the 17K one loop, and the 5K a modified loop. The event is cupless; water refill stations are provided for participants to refill personal bottles or cups. Aid stations offer food and hydration.

Specific provisions include a ranch parking fee collected in cash at entry and ruck rules for the ruck division: participants over 150 pounds carry a 30 pound ruck, those under 150 pounds carry a 20 pound ruck; ruck sack or vest is allowed. Awards include event shirts, finisher medals that are part of the Texas Ultra Series, a ruck patch, overall first place awards by gender for each distance, and a DFL award for the 50K.
