The South Texas Ultra is a trail running event held at the H.W. Lewis Ranch in Leakey, Texas, within the Texas Hill Country. The event offers several race distances on a looped course system.

Course and Terrain

The course consists of rugged rocky trails with some sections of dirt and grass ATV trails, featuring significant elevation changes. For the 50K distance, the route involves over 2300 feet of total elevation gain, with three major climbs per 10.7-mile loop. The 50K, 35K, and 17K follow a 10.3-mile looped format, while the 5K uses a unique, modified route.

Participant Information

This is a cupless race; participants must supply their own bottle or cup for refilling at aid stations. A $10 per participant ranch fee, payable in cash upon entry, is required for parking at the H.W. Lewis Ranch. Participants in certain longer distances are required to have a headlamp.

All finishers receive a collectible finisher medal and an event t-shirt. Additional awards are given for first-place male and female finishers in all distances, and special awards are given for the last finisher in the 50K. RUCK participants receive a special patch.

Series Information

The event is part of the Texas Ultra Series, which includes races across the state. Finisher medals from each series race combine to form a map of Texas, and a special wooden case is awarded for completing all series races.
