SOO 200

SOO 200 takes place at 194 Pickard Road, Goulais River, Ontario. It is presented as Eastern Canada’s first 200 mile event and is described as a sister event to The Divide 200. The race highlights the land and waters of the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma area.

Distances offered

  • 200 mile
  • 100 mile
  • 100k
  • 50k

The course is a mix of single track, double track, dirt road, cross-country and sections of bushwhacking. The route is prescribed but includes short route-finding sections. Terrain is described as rugged and technically demanding in places.

On the 200 mile course, checkpoints are spaced every 20 to 40 km depending on the section. 200 mile competitors are required to carry a Garmin inReach supplied by Sinister Sports for navigation and safety. The 100 mile and 50k both start at Stokely Creek Lodge. The 100k consists of two loops of the 50k course.

For the 200 mile there is a payment plan option: a 50% deposit at registration holds a spot and the balance is due May 22. Paying the balance after May 22 triggers a 10% price increase. A 10% fee is non refundable according to the event terms.

The event is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg including Batchewana and Garden River First Nations, and the Métis People. Baawaating is acknowledged as a historic meeting place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
