SOO 200

The SOO 200 takes place at 194 Pickard Road, Goulais River, Ontario, on September 11, 2026. The event celebrates the land and waters of the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma area and is described as Eastern Canada’s first 200 mile race.

The course mixes single track, double track, dirt road, cross country and some bushwhacking. There are short sections that require route finding even though the course is prescribed. On the 200 mile course, checkpoints are located every 20 to 40 km. Competitors in the 200 mile event are required to carry a Garmin inReach provided by the organizer for route finding and safety.

The race program now includes additional distances. The 100 mile and 50 km start at Stokely Creek Lodge. The 100 km consists of two loops of the 50 km course. The 100 mile follows the southern half of the full course starting from the same lodge.

For the 200 mile there is a payment plan option allowing a 50% deposit; the balance is due on May 22. Paying the balance after May 22 results in a 10% price increase. A 10% non refundable fee applies under the event terms and conditions. Pacers must register and sign their own waiver within the stated registration window.

The event is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, including the Batchewana and Garden River First Nations, and the Métis People. The land Baawaating is noted as a historic meeting place for Indigenous peoples. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
