Sokolský běh republiky – Pittsburgh

Sokolský běh republiky in Pittsburgh is organized as a timed event format. Each participant collects a start package with a race bib and small partner gifts; finishers receive a medal in the shape of the republic.

Distances

  • 5 km main race for adults
  • 1 km children's race for birth years 2012–2026

The main 5 km course starts and finishes at the Oval Shelter. It consists of a 1.5 lap section along the outer oval of Schenley Park on a gravel path, a right turn onto a forest trail, and a grassy section alongside a road; the full loop is repeated twice. The children's 1 km race uses the same outer oval gravel loop and starts and finishes at the Oval Shelter.

Event facilities include nearby men's and women's restrooms, on-course marking and mapped routes, and postfinish refreshments for participants. Parking is available at Schenley Oval Sportplex, 1 Overlook Dr., Pittsburgh, 15213.

The program features packet pickup and registration, an opening segment with anthems and warm-up, the children's race, the main race, and award announcements. A traditional autumn picnic run by the Czech and Slovak School accompanies the event; the school will provide hot food and water, and additional drinks are BYOB. Nearby playground equipment and informal games such as balls, corn hole, and badminton will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
