Snake Hill Backyard Ultra
Snake Hill Backyard Ultra
The Snake Hill Backyard Ultra is the inaugural backyard ultra held in Sundre, Alberta on May 30, 2026. Runners complete as many laps of 6.7 km as they can, running one lap every hour. When the hour resets, participants run another lap. When a runner does not start the next lap, that runner is done.
The route uses the trails of Snake Hill and is described as rooty, rocky and muddy with technical sections that stress the legs. The event emphasizes repeated hourly laps rather than a single fixed distance.
The event is hosted by the Sundre Bike n' Ski Club. Entry fee is $50.00 per runner. Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes April 10, 2026 at 11:59 PM for guaranteed receipt of an event shirt and goodie bag. A limited number of spots are available. Registrations without completed payment by the deadline will not be eligible for the shirt and goodie bag and may forfeit their place.
All proceeds support the Sundre Bike n' Ski Club for wayfinding signs and trail maintenance in the Red Deer River Valley and at Snake Hill. No race results have been posted yet. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
