Sidewinder
The Sidewinder takes place on September 5, 2026 in Coraopolis, PA, with proceeds benefiting the Hollow Oak Land Trust. The event is staged in the Montour Woods Conservation Area and lists the following course features and services.
Distances offered
- 50K
- 20 Mile
- Half Marathon
The course uses typical Western Pennsylvania trails: twisty dirt singletrack with roots, windy switchbacks, and rocky sections. The route is divided into three segments: Liftoff, Orbit, and Final Approach. Liftoff is a 1.36 mile segment that starts at Clearview Shelter in Moon Park and leads into Montour Woods via downhill running and a wooden boardwalk. Orbit is a 9 mile loop that passes a reclaimed concrete clearing from the old Nike missile site, a powerline corridor, a stretch beside Meeks Run with a waterfall and a cave feature, and an old oil well. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3-4 miles along Orbit. The half marathon includes one Orbit loop, the 20 Mile includes two, and the 50K includes three.
Final Approach differs by distance: the 50K and Half Marathon finish with a 2.87 mile mostly double-track loop around Moon Park; the 20 Mile returns on the 1.36 mile Liftoff segment in reverse, ending with an uphill approach. Vertical gain is listed as approximately 4500 ft for the 50K, 3200 ft for the 20 Mile, and 1900 ft for the Half Marathon.
T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations by July 5, 2026. Awards go to the top male and female finishers of each distance. All distances have a 10 hour cutoff, and packet pickup is anticipated the night before and the morning of the race. The event location is 1371 Joe DeNardo Way, Coraopolis, PA 15108.
