Sidewinder

Sidewinder - Coraopolis, PA

Sidewinder is the first edition trail race held in the Montour Woods Conservation Area and Moon Park in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania on September 5, 2026. Proceeds benefit the Hollow Oak Land Trust. The route is described as well marked with aid stations and a first-year race atmosphere.

The course has three named segments. Liftoff is a 1.3 mile downhill and boardwalk connector that links Clearview Shelter in Moon Park to Montour Woods. Orbit is a roughly 9 mile loop through Montour Woods featuring singletrack, reclaimed concrete from an old Nike missile site, a powerline opening, a scenic stretch beside Meeks Run with a waterfall and cave feature, and an old oil well. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 4 miles on the Orbit loop. Final Approach differs by distance: a 2.9 mile mostly double track loop around Moon Park for the Half Marathon and 50K, and the 1.36 mile Liftoff segment in reverse as the finish approach for the 20 Mile.

Vertical gain is listed approximately as 4500 ft for the 50K, 3200 ft for the 20 Mile, and 1900 ft for the Half Marathon. All distances use a 10 hour cutoff and the event will be timed by a timing company. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries completed by July 5, 2026. All finishers receive a medal and awards will be given to the top male and female finishers of each distance. A course preview run is scheduled for July 12, 2026.
