The Sherwood New Year race is scheduled for 18 January 2026 at Sherwood Pines, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, Nottingham (NG21 9JL). The event offers the following distances:

Entries and inclusions

Entry options and prices vary; published figures include on-the-day fees of £30 for the 10k, £25 for the 5k and £7 for the Junior Run, while earlier online offers list prices between £7 and £25. The 10k is open to entrants aged 15 and over on 18 January 2026. The 5k is open to entrants aged 11 and over on 18 January 2026. Event information will be sent to registered entrants prior to race day.

Included for entrants are a bespoke medal, free photographs, and trophies and prizes for leading runners.

Location and access

The venue is on the B6030 east of Kings Clipstone within Sherwood Forest. Parking is available at the event and the fee is included in the cost of the ticket. Public transport options include bus numbers 14 and 15 to Kirton or Walesby from Mansfield bus station, with services approximately every half hour Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays. Trail runs nearby

A hilly 3.75 mile cross country race at Mapplewell Meadows Farm, Barnsley, run on mostly grass with some gravel and possible muddy sections. Entries are limited to 150, with prizes across age categories and a corporate team trophy.

Trail ultra in Sherwood Forest offering 30 mile and 40 mile loops that pass Thoresby Estate, Creswell Crags and Welbeck Estate. The course is fully marked, has aid stations and provides finisher medals.
