Shawnee Trail Runs

The Shawnee Trail Runs take place in Shawnee State Forest, Ohio on October 3, 2026. The event offers multiple race distances through largely forested singletrack and backcountry trails.

• 54 miles with about 11,000 feet of elevation gain, mostly on the Backpack Trail.
• 31 miles (50K) with about 6,500 feet of elevation gain.
• 13.1 miles with about 1,600 feet of elevation gain.

The 50 Mile route includes a 7 mile opening loop followed by a continuous loop and four bonus miles for a total of 54 miles. Much of the ultra course follows the 40 mile Shawnee State Forest Backpack Trail and passes through a designated wilderness area known as The Dark Side, an especially remote section of the forest. The 50K follows the Backpack Trail with a midrace split onto bridle and gravel roads before rejoining the main loop. The 13.1 mile course is a smaller lollipop that uses smoother and more runnable trail sections.

Aid stations are classified as water only, medium, or full; medium and full stations carry Tailwind endurance drink in a single non caffeinated flavor. The event is cupless; runners must use a handheld bottle, bladder, or collapsible cup. Start and finish facilities and packet pickup are located at the Shawnee State Park Lodge.
