Shawnee Trail Runs

Blue Creek, United States • 3 Oct 2026

Event Overview

The Shawnee Trail Runs offer three distances on challenging trails in Ohio's Shawnee State Forest. The event is known for its remote wilderness setting and significant elevation gain.

Distances and Terrain

  • 50 Miler: This is a 54-mile course with 11,000 feet of climbing. It starts with a 7-mile opening loop before a continuous 47-mile loop on the Shawnee State Forest Backpack Trail. The route includes a 9-mile section through an 8,000-acre wilderness area, known as "The Dark Side," where all trail maintenance is done by hand.
  • 50K: This is a 31-mile course with 6,500 feet of climbing. It begins an hour after the 50 Miler and joins the longer route on the Backpack Trail before diverging around mile 20. It later rejoins the 50 Miler course for the final 8 miles to the finish.
  • 13.1 Mile: This half-marathon course has 2,600 feet of climbing. It offers a sample of the terrain from the longer distances on smoother, more runnable trails.

All courses start and finish at the same location. The 50 Miler and 50K courses are primarily run on a single loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
