The Shannon Trail Series is a three-race trail series run by the San Angelo Road Lizards in San Angelo, Texas. The series runs from January 17 to February 21, 2026. Each race takes place at a different venue: Middle Concho Park, Twin Buttes Boat Ramp (Twin Buttes Reservoir), and San Angelo State Park (Chaparral Pavilion).

Race schedule and venues

Race 1 (Middle Concho Park) is offered as a 5K or 10K on January 17, 2026. Race 2 (Twin Buttes Boat Ramp) is offered as a 5K or 12K on January 31, 2026. Race 3 (San Angelo State Park, Chaparral Pavilion) is offered as a 5K or 15K on February 21, 2026.

Timing, scoring, and awards

Races are chip timed, but awards are based on gun time. Finisher medals are given at each race only to finishers on race day. Overall awards for top three male and female finishers are given at each race for both distances. Series scoring is separate for short and long courses; first place earns 1000 points, second 999, third 998, and so on. Series age group awards are given after the third race; starting in 2026, a competitor must finish all three races to be eligible. Ties in series points are broken by total raw time.

Course rules and other notes

Walking is allowed. Pets are not permitted on the course. Strollers are not appropriate due to rocky climbs and narrow single-track trails. No virtual option exists for finisher medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
