About the race
The Salzburg Trailrunning Festival is a three day trailrunning event in Salzburg held 23 to 25 October 2026 with a new centre at Schloss Hellbrunn. The programme combines urban and mountain routes that pass city landmarks and trails on the nearby city mountains.
Races and formats include several city and mountain events. The Friday Nightrun runs through the Hellbrunn area and its famous water features and zoo terrain on a short, mostly flat route. Saturday highlights include a children’s trail and city routes that pass the Salzburg Dom, Festspielhaus, Museum der Moderne, Schloss Mönchstein and the Kaiviertel, with a distinctive finish at Festung Hohensalzburg. Sunday focuses on the Gaisberg trails around the Salzburg Hausberg.
Preparation activities are offered before the event as Salomon Trailwochen. These include workshops with short presentations, product tests and group runs. Participation in the preparatory sessions is free, organised in different pace groups, and includes weekly participant gifts plus a Salomon shoe giveaway.
Key race distances include:
- Nightrun: 7.8 km, about 95 m elevation
- Gaisbergtrail: 24.6 km, 1,280 m elevation
- Gaisbergrace: 5.1 km, 820 m elevation
The festival presents a mix of night, city and mountain trail formats across three days in Salzburg. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
