Salt Flats Endurance Runs

Salt Flats Endurance Runs is held at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway near Wendover, Utah. The event offers multiple distances:

• 100 Miler
• 100K (106.5K)
• 50 Miler
• 50K
• 10K
• 5K

All ultra distances use the same section of the salt flats. The main course includes about 13 miles of salt, followed by roughly three miles of mud flats, then the "Islands," mountain peaks that appear to float on the salt. The 50K is an out and back to the No Post aid station at 15.5 miles for an exact 50K. The 50 Miler, 100K and 100 Miler continue on rolling hills and include multiple significant climbs. The 100K and 100 Miler cross into Nevada along a route linked to the Donner Reed Party.

Organizers state that finish cutoffs have been adjusted to accommodate a wide variety of runners. Due to BLM regulations, the race may use pre-approved salt adjacent alternate courses when the salt is wet; aid station distances do not change in that case. The event added a 5K in 2021 and a 10K in 2026; these are simple out and back courses intended for family or crew waiting on ultra runners. 5K and 10K participants receive a tech shirt and a bib.
