RutFest is the fifth annual Richmond Ultra Trail Festival held at Catamount Outdoor Family Center. The event is a 36-hour trail-running and hiking weekend (plus one bonus hour for Daylight Savings Time). It is organized as a relaxed, community-focused event rather than a competition. Participants may run or walk laps on two alternating trail loops and may come and go across the weekend. Runners check in at the main aid station before starting laps and are asked to check in with a volunteer when leaving for safety.

Format, fees and support

The event uses two separate loops that are run repeatedly by participants:

  • About 3 miles (north side)
  • About 4 miles (south side)

Entry is donation based; suggested donation levels and add-on donations are offered. Net profit after event fees will be split between Catamount Outdoor Family Center and the Vermont Huts F.O.R.E.S.T Program. Registered participants receive event updates by email and are asked to sign up for a one-hour aid-station volunteer shift and to donate a snack.
