Running the Rose

Running the Rose is a trail race held at Tyler State Park, centered on the Northwoods Pavilion. The course follows single track trails through East Texas pine forest with 100 foot tall trees and rolling hills. The event was postponed due to weather and moved to January 31.

Registrations are online only. All runners must carry a hydration device such as a water bottle or hydration bladder. Runners in the longer distances are required to carry a headlamp. This is a cupless race; reusable collapsible cups are available for purchase at packet pick up.

Distances offered include:

  • 7K 1 x 4.3 mile loop
  • 11 mile 1 x 11 mile loop
  • 22 mile 2 x 11 mile loop
  • 54K 3 x 11 mile loop
  • 108K 6 x 11 mile loop

Aid stations are located on the loop at Old Road (Mile 3.22), Black Jack (Mile 8.07) and the Start/Finish (Mile 11). Water, endurance drinks and common aid station food will be available. Warm foods will be served at the Start/Finish and Black Jack aid stations for runners in the longer events. Drop bags are allowed for the 108K, 54K and 22 mile events next to the start finish aid station.

A continuous 50-mile trail race on a scenic 5K loop in Tyler, Texas. Runners complete about 16 laps with full support and a 12-hour cutoff. The format focuses on pacing and features chip timing and a dedicated 50-mile field.
