Run the River Ultra Challenge and Relay
Run the River Ultra Challenge and Relay is held at Petal River Park in Petal, MS. The event features a timed 6 hour solo option, a 6 hour relay for teams, and a new community walk with a shorter accessible loop.
The course is a roughly 2.8 mile loop that moves from wide meadow lanes to single-track under a hardwood canopy. The route passes riverfront views, lagoons, wetlands, palmetto fields, and crosses historic train trestles. Both the full loop and the shorter walk loop allow participants to choose their own total distance.
The event uses a tailgate style for on-site support. There is no on-course aid station because of the short loop; cold refreshments are available at the finish and loop start. Teams are encouraged to keep personal fuel and supplies at their tailgate sites. Parking and camping are available on site with first-come tailgate spots; overnight camping is permitted without on-site security.
Timing is managed by Endurance Timing. Individual entrants wear bibs and count completed laps within the six hour window. Relay teams use a baton system and may only exchange the baton in the designated exchange zone. Divisions include male and female for individuals and male female and coed for teams.
The City of Petal Parks and Recreation hosts the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
