Mississippi Trail 50 : March 6-7, 2026

The event takes place on the Longleaf Horse Trail in the De Soto National Forest, just south of Laurel, Mississippi, on March 6-7, 2026. Distances offered include:

  • 100 miles
  • 50 miles
  • 50K
  • 20K

This is the 30th annual running of the event; the 100-mile distance is held for the fourth time. Packet pickup is at the trailhead on the day before the main Saturday races and on the morning of the 100-mile start. Post-race food is provided at the start/finish area. Finishers receive mementos; belt buckles are awarded to 50-mile and 100-mile finishers.

Course, format, and rules

The course runs on gently rolling pine forest terrain, mostly single-track with some double-track logging roads. The 100-mile race comprises seven 12.5-mile loops and two 6.1-mile loops. The 50-mile course comprises three 12.5-mile loops plus two 6.1-mile loops; the 50K and 50-mile events have a 12-hour time limit. The 100-mile event is all-or-nothing: entrants must complete the full 100 miles within the event time limit to avoid a DNF. Runners in the shorter events may switch to a shorter race after completing one or more loops; switched entrants are counted as finishers but are not eligible for trophies. An aid station operated by MUTS is on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
