The Mississippi Trail 50 is scheduled for March 6-7, 2026 near Laurel, Mississippi. Distances offered include:
- Mississippi 100
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 20K
This is the event's 30th annual edition. The 100-mile distance is held in conjunction with MUTS and is in its 4th year. The 50K and 50 Mile events have a 12-hour time limit; the 100 Mile has a 30-hour time limit. The 100-mile race is all-or-nothing.
Course and format
The course follows the Longleaf Horse Trail in the De Soto National Forest on gently rolling pine forest, mostly single track with some double-track logging roads. Loop formats are used: the 100M consists of seven 12.5-mile loops and two 6.1-mile loops; the 50M is composed of three 12.5-mile loops and two 6.1-mile loops. Runners may switch to a shorter race after completing one or more loops; runners who switch during the race are counted as finishers but are not eligible for trophies. For the shorter events, a DNF occurs only if a runner does not complete at least one loop.
Location and facilities
The start/finish and packet pickup are at the Longleaf Horse Trail trailhead, south of Laurel in the De Soto National Forest. Post-race food is provided at the start/finish area. Finishers receive mementos, and belt buckles are awarded to 50 Mile and 100 Mile finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
