Mississippi Trail 50
Laurel, United States • 6-7 Mar 2026
Distances
The event offers four distances:
- Mississippi 100 (100 miles)
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 20K
Course and Format
The run takes place on the Longleaf Horse Trail in the DeSoto National Forest south of Laurel, Mississippi. The course is on gently rolling pine forest terrain, mostly single-track trail with some double-track logging roads.
This is the 30th annual edition of the event. The 100-mile event starts on a Friday at noon with a 30-hour time limit. Participants must complete the distance by the cutoff on Saturday evening or receive a DNF. The 50 Miler, 50K, and 20K events start on Saturday morning.
A unique rule allows runners in the Saturday events to switch to a shorter distance during the race after completing one or more loops. Anyone who switches will be counted as a finisher but will not be eligible for a trophy. This means a runner can start a longer distance and complete a shorter one if needed. The only way to receive a DNF in the shorter events is to not complete at least one loop. There are time cutoffs for starting later loops in the longer Saturday events.
Amenities
Packet pickup is at the trailhead. Post-race food is available on-site at the start/finish line. All finishers receive a memento. Belt buckles are awarded to finishers of the 50 Miler and 100-mile events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
