The Mississippi Trail 50 is a multi-distance trail running event held on the Longleaf Horse Trail in the De Soto National Forest near Laurel, Mississippi. The course runs on gently rolling pine forest terrain and is mostly single track with some double-track logging roads.

The event uses looped courses. The 100 mile race comprises seven 12.5 mile loops plus two 6.1 mile loops and is contested as an all-or-nothing distance with a 30 hour time limit. The 50K and 50 Mile races have a 12 hour time limit. Runners in the shorter events may switch to a shorter race after completing one or more loops; anyone who switches during the race will be counted as a finisher but is not eligible for a trophy.
Packet pickup is at the trailhead on Friday for the various events, with separate pickup arrangements for the 100 mile field. On-site provisions include aid station support, a MUTS aid station for the 100 mile event, and post-race food at the start/finish area. Finishers receive mementos, and belt buckles are awarded to 50 Mile and 100 Mile finishers. This edition marks the 30th annual Mississippi Trail event and includes the 4th annual 100 mile distance.
