Run for the Elk Race Festival

The Run for the Elk Race Festival takes place July 26, 2026 at the West Creek Industrial Trail, E. 3rd and Chestnut St., Emporium, Pennsylvania. The event runs rain or shine and includes multiple distances on the trail.

All registrants receive a race t-shirt, finisher medal and a pair of running socks. Additional on-course and post-race amenities include pizza and salad prepared by Fox’s Pizza in Emporium, live online and text results, free finish line photos and same-day finish line video.

Course and timing notes: the full marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier with certification number PA22017NP and is run as two loops. The 5K and 10K are out-and-back courses of approximately 1.55 miles and 3.1 miles each way respectively. Time limits apply: a four hour limit is set for the half marathon, 10K and 5K. Marathon entries include an early start option that provides at least 6.5 hours to finish; early starters are not eligible for awards and are expected to run at roughly a 15 minute per mile pace or slower. First time half marathon, marathon and combo finishers receive a plaque.

Packet pickup is available the Friday before the race between 4:00 and 6:00 pm at the start/finish area. Awards are available immediately after finishing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
