Event Overview

The BCU Rumble in the Jungle is a trail running event held in Bindarri National Park and the surrounding Coffs Harbour hinterland. The course traverses a variety of terrain, including rainforest singletrack, forest roads, and remote fire trails. Participants encounter natural landmarks such as Bangalore Falls, Urumbilum Falls, and Battery Falls. The event hub is located at the Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall in Ulong.

Distances and Course Details

The event offers several distances to accommodate different experience levels:

  • 100 km Ultra: An adventure featuring 3,000m of ascent and descent, passing through Wild Cattle Creek State Forest and reaching "The Confluence" of the Bobo and Little Nymbodia Rivers.
  • 50 km Ultra: A challenging route through Bindarri National Park with 1,950m of elevation gain, including access to the Mt Wondurrigah lookout.
  • 30 km: A scenic run focusing on the Plateau Circuit Loop Trail and Bangalore Falls with 860m of ascent.
  • 21 km: A destination run following forest roads to a turnaround point at Bangalore Falls.
  • 8 km: A steady climb up Corfes Road providing views of local farmland before entering the rainforest.
  • 1 km Kids / Family: A free participation run held around the Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall oval.

Logistics and Requirements

The 100 km Ultra requires evidence of a prior qualification (at least a 42 km trail run with 1,000m ascent). All other distances have no qualification requirements, though minimum age limits apply for longer distances. This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own reusable bottles or hydration packs. Mandatory gear, including snake bandages and emergency space blankets, must be carried by participants in the 21 km through 100 km events.

Free camping is available for participants on Friday and Saturday nights at the Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall, with facilities including a kitchen and BBQ area.
