Coffs Backyard Ultra
The Coffs Backyard Ultra is a community-based endurance event held in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The race follows a standard backyard ultra format where participants must complete a 6.706 km loop, known as a "yard," every hour on the hour. The event continues until only one runner remains to start and finish a final solo loop.
The course consists of a steady loop with a surface breakdown of 82% shaded gravel path, 10% wide boardwalks, and 8% bitumen. Each yard features 20 metres of total ascent and 20 metres of total descent. The route begins with an 800m loop within the Coffs Harbour Showground before transitioning onto the Coffs Creek Walkway.
Registration for this event is open to all without prior qualification requirements. Participants can access various on-site facilities at the Exhibition Pavilion, including:
- Large undercover spaces for gear and marquees
- Indoor and outdoor toilet blocks
- A kitchen with a microwave, fridge, and hot water urn
- Charging stations for electronic devices
- Hot showers for runners and support crew
The event provides a neutral-flavored electrolyte drink, water, and various snacks such as fruit, chips, and sweets. Hot food including chips, noodles, and soup is available from Saturday evening. Specific mandatory gear is required, including a mobile phone and a headtorch for night yards between 5:00 pm and 6:00 am.
Recognitions are awarded for reaching specific milestones: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
