Coffs Backyard Ultra - Coffs Harbour, NSW

Coffs Backyard Ultra is a donation-based endurance event held at the Coffs Harbour Showground and on the Coffs Creek Walkway. The 2026 event is scheduled for 6 June 2026 and the entry sold out, with a free waitlist open. The format requires runners to complete a 6.706 km yard every hour, on the hour, repeating until only one runner remains. Cash prizes of $1,000 are offered to both the last male and last female left standing. The event lists 821 participants on the Race Roster entry page.

Course, facilities and rules

Each yard uses the same loop: an 800 m wide showground loop followed by a 5.906 km section along the Coffs Creek Walkway. The course surface is reported as 82% shaded gravel path, 10% boardwalk and 8% bitumen. Total ascent and descent per yard are 20 metres each. The course is marked with reflective strips and corflute arrows, and runners must keep to a single file when running east of the Hogbin Drive underpass (between 3.2 km and 4.1 km). Spectators and support crew are allowed on the showground loop but are not permitted on the Coffs Creek Walkway.

Facilities include a large undercover space in the Exhibition Pavilion, multiple toilet blocks, kitchen facilities, charging stations, phone reception, and hot showers. Free camping is available in two showground areas and tents, campervans and caravans are welcome. A professional first aid provider will be on-site for the event and additional medic coverage is provided at the Hogbin Drive point for the early yards. Mandatory gear includes a Coffs Trail Runners bib worn on the front, a charged mobile phone and a headtorch during night yards, and a personal cup or flask for on-course drinks.
