Coffs Backyard Ultra

Coffs Harbour, Australia • 6 Jun 2026

Event overview

Coffs Backyard Ultra is a donation-based endurance event held at the Exhibition Pavilion, Coffs Harbour Showground, Coffs Harbour, NSW on 6 June 2026. The format requires runners to complete a 6.706 km "yard" every hour, on the hour, repeating until only one runner remains. The event awards a cash prize of $1,000 to both the last male and last female left standing. Free camping is available at the showground from the day before the event. There is no minimum age and no prior qualification required.

Course, facilities and rules

The course combines a wide 800 m showground loop with the Coffs Creek Walkway to form each yard. Surface breakdown per yard is approximately 82% shaded gravel, 10% wide boardwalks and 8% bitumen, with about 20 m total ascent and 20 m total descent per yard. Support crew and spectators may provide assistance and encouragement within the showground loop but are not allowed on the Coffs Creek Walkway. The event uses manual tally boards and reusable bib stickers for tracking; bibs do not contain timing chips.

Facilities include a large undercover gear area, multiple toilets, a kitchen, charging stations, phone reception, dedicated quiet room and hot showers. A professional first aid provider will be onsite for the event. Mandatory items include a race bib, a charged mobile phone during night yards, a torch for night yards and a personal cup or flask for drinks. Random gear checks may occur and noncompliance can lead to disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
