Coffs Backyard Ultra
Coffs Backyard Ultra is a donation based endurance event held in Coffs Harbour on 6 June 2026 with the event hub at the Exhibition Pavilion, Coffs Harbour Showground. The race format requires runners to complete a single 6.706 km yard every hour and repeat that yard until only one runner remains. Cash prizes of $1,000 are awarded to the last male and the last female standing.
The course uses an 800 m wide loop inside the showground followed by a 5.906 km out-and-back on the Coffs Creek Walkway. The route is primarily shaded gravel path with boardwalks and short sections of bitumen. Total ascent and descent per yard are about 20 metres. Spectators and support crew may provide encouragement inside the showground but are not permitted on the Coffs Creek Walkway. Runners must keep to a single file when running east of the Hogbin Drive underpass between 3.2 km and 4.1 km.
The event hub offers a large undercover space for gear and marquees, multiple toilet blocks, a kitchen with basic appliances, charging stations, phone reception, a quiet room and hot showers for runners. A main aid station provides drinks and light food and an unmanned cupless water point and toilets are placed on course. A professional first aid provider will be on site for the event.
This is a cupless event with mandatory gear checks. Runners use reusable bibs and manual tally boards for official yard tracking. There is no minimum age though children under 10 must run with an adult. Free camping is available at the showground with two camping areas for vehicle access.
