Rugeley 10

The Rugeley 10 is a 10-mile running event first established in 2016. Held annually in mid-February, the race takes place on a scenic and undulating course composed of quiet lanes and rural roads. The route is centered around the villages of Brereton and Longdon on the outskirts of Rugeley in rural Staffordshire.

The race begins on closed roads with a wide starting section that features a slight downhill followed by a gradual uphill. After leaving the main road, the course moves onto open roads monitored by marshals. Notable features of the route include:

  • A short, sharp climb at approximately 1.3 miles (2 km).
  • A flat or downhill section leading to the first water station at mile 4 (6 km).
  • An undulating middle section between miles 4 and 7.
  • A steep climb at Grange Hill at mile 7 (11 km) followed by a second water station.
  • The longest climb of the course occurring over the next 1.5 miles.
  • A final 1.5-mile downhill section leading to the finish.

The event capped at 350 runners. Facilities at the race headquarters include refreshments and car parking spread across several marshalled locations. Some parking areas require a five-minute walk to reach the headquarters. Participant registration and number collection take place at the headquarters on the morning of the event.
