Mountain Rescue Pendle Dark Dash

The event takes place on Wednesday 25 March 2026 from Barley Village Hall (BB12 9JT, grid reference SD 823 403) in the South/West Pennines, England. The route crosses open and exposed fell terrain and covers a distance of 9.2 km with approximately 350 m of climb. The course follows the tourist path up Pendle Hill to the steps, continues by a steep ascent to the beacon/trig, crosses the flags to the top of Ogden Clough, then descends Ogden Clough with two stream crossings, passes Ogden Reservoirs and returns to Barley village.

The route will be partially marked and marshalled by volunteer mountain rescue team members. Because this is a night event, a good head torch, the OL21 map and full kit as specified by the FRA are required. Participants should be competent with map and compass navigation.

Pre-entry via SI entries is available and entry on the day is also permitted; the entry fee for both options is £11. Minimum age is 18. Teams and junior races are not included. The race holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA. Competitors should park in the Barley village car park since parking on the road may jeopardise the future of the event. All proceeds go to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, a registered charity (no. 1195415). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
