Mountain Rescue Pendle Dark Dash

The Mountain Rescue Pendle Dark Dash is a night fell race on Wednesday 25 March 2026 that starts in Barley and follows a route up Pendle Hill and over into Ogden Clough. The course covers 9.2 km with about 350 m of climb. Runners follow the tourist path to the bottom of the steps, then ascend on a steep section to the beacon or trig, continue over flagged ground to the top of Ogden Clough, and descend the clough with two stream crossings, passing Ogden Reservoirs before returning to Barley village.

The route crosses open and exposed fell and will be partially marked and marshalled by volunteer mountain rescue team members. A head torch and the OL21 map are essential. Competitors must carry full kit as specified by the FRA and be competent with map and compass. Entry is allowed in advance via the SI entries system or on the day; the entry fee is £11. Parking should be in the Barley village car park as roadside parking may affect the future of the event. No dogs are allowed. Minimum age is 18. The race has a permit and UK Athletics insurance associated with the FRA. All proceeds go to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, a registered charity.
