Rose Canyon Ultra, June 6, 2026

Rose Canyon Ultra is a trail event based at the Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park in Herriman, Utah. The event offers multiple distances that use trails in the Rose, Butterfield, and Yellow Fork Canyon areas and finishes at the same trailhead.

  • 50 mile - 49.8 miles, +10,737 ft elevation
  • 50k - 29.4 miles, +5,273 ft elevation
  • 30k - 18.8 miles, +3,250 ft elevation

Courses combine single track, dirt road, and fire road. Runners encounter steep ridges, meadows, dense foliage, stream crossings that may require rock or log crossings to stay dry, and exposed sections where extra water is advised. Route surfaces and percentages vary by distance; for example the 50 mile course is roughly 64% dirt trail, 14% fire road, and 22% dirt road.

Aid stations are staffed and stocked with Tailwind electrolyte drink, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, water, fruit, soda, and assorted packaged snacks. Navigation uses pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals; flagging is placed before and after turns on the same side as the turn. Pacers are permitted for the 50 mile course beginning at the Yellow Fork aid station; drop bag and crew access vary by station. The event provides a race shirt, custom local finisher medals, free photos, post race food, free parking, and enforced cutoff paces for runner safety. Races are capped at 300 participants or fewer.
