The Rose Canyon Ultra is held at the Butterfield Canyon Trailhead in Herriman, Utah. The event uses trails in the Rose, Butterfield, and Yellow Fork canyon areas and offers three distance options with capped field sizes for local trail access.

Course, cutoffs and race support

Courses include single track, fire road, and dirt road. Surface breakdowns: 50 mile 64% dirt trail/14% fire road/22% dirt road; 50k 72%/16%/12%; 30k 77%/15%/8%. The route is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. Cutoffs are stated per distance (50 mile follows a 20 minute mile cutoff; 50k a 21m 30s mile cutoff; 30k a 30 minute mile cutoff).

Aid stations provide Tailwind (caffeine and noncaffeine), water, Honey Stinger gels/waffles, fruit, cola/ginger ale, and assorted packaged snacks. One drop bag is allowed at Yellow Fork Aid Station for all distances; 50 mile runners may also place a drop bag at Butterfield Peak Trailhead. Pacers are allowed only for the 50 mile at the Yellow Fork aid location. Packet pickup is available the day before at the Salt Lake Running Company in Sandy. Free parking is provided in designated event parking areas. Free race photos, locally made finisher medals, shirts, and awards for top finishers are included.
