Dimple Dell Blitz Backyard
Dimple Dell Blitz Backyard takes place at Dimple Dell Regional Park with the Wrangler Trailhead as the start and finish area. The race uses a 4.167 mile loop composed mostly of woodchipped trails, which the organizer notes remains runnable in snow or rain and provides views of the snow‑covered Wasatch Mountains. The event is scheduled for March 20, 2027.
The event is offered in three timed formats: 4 hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour. Runners complete the loop once each hour and must finish a loop within the hour to receive credit; participants who do not complete a loop in the allotted hour are removed. This Blitz Backyard times every lap and ranks runners first by distance completed and then by cumulative time across completed laps. Live timing displays individual lap times and cumulative totals.
Awards and recognition include a finisher medal for anyone completing at least one loop and a custom leather patch beanie for runners who complete 12 loops (50 miles). First through third places for men and women are determined by distance and then by cumulative time when distances match. Each format is capped at 60 runners to limit trail congestion.
Logistics: packet pickup is available Friday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Sandy Salt Lake Running Store, 8946 S State St, Sandy, UT 84070, with race day pickup beginning at 5:30 am. The finish area is described as well stocked with snacks and provisioned with Tailwind electrolyte drink; Great Harvest Bread and pizza are provided at specified conclusions of the events. Course marking uses pink flags, cones, and signs. Free paved parking is provided across the street from the trailhead. Event photography is provided without watermarks and photos are hosted by the photographer. Race rules include no artificial aid or pacers, remaining in the starting corral for loop starts, and allowing passes by faster runners. Average temperatures in March are listed as an average high of 53°F and an average low of 38°F. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
