Event Overview
The Juniper Canyon Half Marathon is a trail running event held in Herriman, Utah. Organized by Happy Trails Running, the race takes place on a course consisting of 93% single track trails and 7% paved surfaces. The route traverses canyons, ridgelines, and foothills, providing views of the Wasatch Valley and Mountains.
The event is designed to be accessible with no cutoff times, allowing participants to finish at their own pace. The total elevation gain for the course is approximately 1,681 ft.
Course Details
The race follows a lollipop-style course that starts and finishes at W&M Butterfield Park. Participants access the Herriman City Trail System and navigate through several specific trails:
- 13.1 miles: Includes the Diamondback Trail, Eric's Trail, Mustang Trail, and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. There are aid stations located along the route, which are stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, gels, waffles, and fruit. Due to distances between stations reaching up to 5.9 miles, runners are encouraged to carry their own water bottles or packs.
Participation and Swag
Registration is limited to a capacity of 200 runners. Participants receive a race shirt and a custom finishers medal made locally. Free race photos are provided without watermarks for all runners.
At the finish line, a post-race breakfast is provided, featuring items such as sweet breads, chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as to the top three finishers in various age divisions ranging from under 20 to over 70.
