Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals
The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals is an annual fundraising event presented by Meredith Village Savings Bank that benefits the Seacoast Science Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. The event centers on a chip timed 5K trail race through Odiorne Point State Park and includes a separate kids fun run.
The 5K route passes through mixed terrain: forest trails, rocky shore, sandy beach, and historic military fortifications, with views of the Gulf of Maine and Little Harbor. The 5K trail is not stroller friendly, dogs are not allowed in the park, and an adult must accompany children aged 12 and under on the 5K.
Distances and youth events
- 5K trail race for ages 6 and up
- 300 yard dash for ages 1 to 7
- 1/2 mile kids run for ages 8 to 12
Event details include registration fees for different age groups, an adult sized moisture wicking race t shirt available to registrants, and race shirts offered for purchase. Prize awards are given for fastest male and female overall and for top finishers in age groups. A beach cleanup with Blue Ocean Society takes place after the race. Onsite registration is available before the event on race day per the organizer’s information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
