Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals
The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals is an annual fundraising event presented by Meredith Village Savings Bank to benefit the Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue program. The event features a chip timed 5K trail race and a kids fun run held at Odiorne Point State Park.
The 5K trail route passes through forest, along rocky shorelines, across a sandy beach, and beside historic military fortifications, with views of the Gulf of Maine and Little Harbor. The 5K trail is not stroller friendly. Dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. An adult must accompany children aged 12 and under on the 5K. The kids fun run includes two distances and every child who participates receives a prize.
Event shirts are moisture wicking performance short sleeve shirts in adult sizes; the first 150 registrants receive a free shirt and shirts are available for purchase for twenty dollars during registration. Prizes are awarded to the fastest male and female overall and to top finishers in each age group. The event also includes a beach cleanup in partnership with Blue Ocean Society following the runs.
