Redeye 50K

The Redeye is a 50 km trail event held at Prince William Forest Park with a single course of 31.7 miles run as three repeats of a roughly 10-mile loop. The first loop includes a 2.5 mile prologue that makes that leg 11.9 miles; loops two and three are about 9.9 miles each.

Terrain is primarily groomed forest trails with two sections of rolling gravel roads of about 1 to 3 miles. The first loop follows a short paved section to the Birch Bluff Trail, then approximately 1.5 miles of trail to a swinging bridge over Quantico Creek, a 9-mile counter-clockwise loop on park trails and roads, and a final 0.45 miles up the Laurel Trail back to the start/finish area.

There is an unmanned aid station at the start/finish that runners access at the end of each loop. Runners traditionally contribute food to the aid spread; participants are asked to manage opened items and cleanup. Restrooms are available above the main parking area, adjacent to the visitor center, and near the Turkey Run Education Center about 7 miles into the loop; water is available at the restroom building there.

Course markings use single and double ribbons to indicate turns; double ribbons show the side of the forthcoming turn and confidence ribbons follow. Markings may be removed during the third loop. A GPX file and printable map and turnsheet are provided. Entry opens December 1, 2026 and is limited to 120 runners. Participants must pay the National Park Service entrance fee by card or show a valid pass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
