Red Mountain 50K, 30K and Dirty Hurty Half Marathon
Red Mountain is a set of trail races held in the Santa Clara Reserve near Ivins and Santa Clara, Utah. The courses use a wheel-and-spoke design with all loops starting and ending at the same central location, and the finish is at Unity Park in Ivins. The event includes a centralized aid station at the Cove Wash Trailhead and an additional unmanned self-serve aid point on the orange loop.
Distances:
- 50K
- 30K
- Dirty Hurty Half Marathon (about 14 miles)
The 50K is built from four loops (green, blue, red, orange); the 30K uses three of those loops; the half marathon uses two. Individual loop distances and elevation gains include the Green loop (7.7 miles, 687 ft), Blue loop (5.7 miles, 547 ft), Red loop (10.2 miles, 1768 ft), and Orange loop (6.88 miles, 634 ft). Combined course vertical for the 50K is just over 4,000 feet.
Logistics note: all distances start in Santa Clara and participants are asked to use shuttle transportation from the finish area at Unity Park to the start due to limited vehicle access. Packet pick-up is provided the day before at the St. George Running Center and on race morning at Unity Park. There is a 9 hour course time limit. Timing uses a start-mat time and a timing mat at the central aid station for loop splits. Awards include top male and female finishers and age-group prizes; all finishers receive a finisher medal and post-race food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
