Red Dirt Ultra - 11th Edition
Red Dirt Ultra takes place in Kisatchie National Forest on the Sandstone and Caroline Dormon trail system. The route moves through longleaf pine ecosystems and along stretches of the Kisatchie Bayou, using multi-use backcountry trails shared with ATV riders and equestrians.
The terrain includes loose and hard-packed sand, rocks, mud, creek and water crossings, long climbs, flowing descents, and extended runnable singletrack beneath longleaf pines. Portions of the course pass remote forest areas that are rarely experienced on foot.
Aid stations are staffed by experienced ultrarunners and volunteers, with vegan options available at the finish line and a mid-loop aid station. The event is organized and directed by ultrarunners who shape course design and aid station care.
Distances are approximate; the listed 50K and 100K correspond to roughly 33 and 66 miles. All races share a midnight cutoff. The 100K allows 18 hours to complete the course, which implies an average overall pace near 16 minutes per mile including stops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
