Red Dirt Ultra - 11th Edition
Red Dirt Ultra is held in Kisatchie National Forest near Provencal, Louisiana, on the Sandstone and Caroline Dormon trail system. The route passes through longleaf pine ecosystems, remote forest, and sections alongside the Kisatchie Bayou.
Trail surfaces vary across loose and hard-packed sand, rock, mud, creek and water crossings, long climbs, flowing descents, and extended runnable sections. The Sandstone and Caroline Dormon trails are multi-use backcountry routes shared with ATV riders and equestrians, producing a changing trail surface that requires attention and adaptability.
Aid stations are described as well stocked and staffed by experienced ultrarunners; volunteers provide on-course support. Vegan options are available at the finish line and at a mid-loop aid station. Distances are approximate and course layouts differ by distance.
All races share a midnight cutoff. The 100K distance allows 18 hours to complete the course, which equates to an average overall pace near 16 minutes per mile including stops.
