Rasus y Bannau
Brecon, United Kingdom • 2-3 Apr 2027
Rasus y Bannau comprises three long distance mountain races that follow a circular route around the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. All races start and finish in Brecon and traverse high ridgelines, forests and valleys with substantial ascent.
Distances offered:
- 100 km Ultra with +5100 m ascent
- 40 mile Ultra Trail with +2850 m ascent
- Marathon with +2000 m ascent
Routes climb from Brecon onto the north ridge of Cribyn, proceed east to Fan y Big and follow a ridgeline towards Carn Pica. The Marathon and 40 mile courses move toward Blaen y Glyn and Torpantau, while the 100 km route descends to Talybont Reservoir and climbs Tor y Foel before joining sections of the Cambrian Way and Beacons Way. From Torpantau all routes pass through the Taf Fechan Forest and across ridgelines toward Pont ar Daf where course variations occur. Both ultras cross Fan Fawr and Fan Llia; the 100 km continues into the Black Mountain and then returns to rejoin the 40 mile line above Craig Cerrig Gleisiad. The final sections take ultra runners to the summit of Pen y Fan before a north ridge descent into Brecon.
Entry fees include a finisher medal, emergency first aid, GPS tracking, electronic timing, marked checkpoints with refreshments, mountain safety teams, GPS files, free race photography and one drop bag for the 100 km event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
