Rasus y Bannau is a series of long-distance mountain trail races set in and around the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. The event takes place in Brecon with the event base at Theatr Brycheiniog, Canal Wharf, Brecon, Powys LD3 7EW. The dates span 2 to 3 May 2026. Distances and course
- 100 km - +5,100 m ascent
- 75 km Ultra - +3,500 m ascent
- Marathon (approx 43 km) - +2,000 m ascent
All routes start and finish in Brecon town centre at the Theatre. The courses climb onto the north ridge of Cribyn, pass Fan y Big and Carn Pica, then follow ridgelines and mountain trails through sections such as Torpantau, Taf Fechan Forest, Cefn Cul, Fan Fawr, Fan Llia and, for the 100 km, Fan Brycheiniog (Black Mountain). The ultra routes rejoin above the Graig Cerrig Gleisiad area before a final ascent of Pen y Fan and descent back to Brecon.
Logistics and services
Checkpoint provision differs by distance: 9 checkpoints for the 100 km, 6 for the 75 km, and 4 for the marathon. Checkpoints supply water, energy drinks and food items; a drop bag point is provided at about 50 km for ultra entrants. The event uses route marking at major junctions, provides a GPS file and GPS tracking for competitors, and includes mountain safety teams and first aid cover.
