Routes, logistics and requirements
All routes start in Brecon town centre and climb the north ridge of Cribyn, then proceed east via Fan y Big and a ridgeline towards Carn Pica. The marathon route climbs Corn Du and Pen y Fan before returning to Brecon. The ultra routes descend to Talybont Reservoir, cross the Blaen y Glyn area and continue over ridgelines including Fan Fawr and Fan Llia. The 100 km course extends west into the Black Mountain, topping Fan Brycheiniog, then rejoins the 75 km line before the final climb to Pen y Fan and the descent back to Brecon.
Checkpoint provision: 9 checkpoints for the 100 km, 6 for the 75 km, and 4 for the marathon. Checkpoints supply drinks and a range of food; a drop bag service is available at CP5 (about 50 km) for ultra entrants. The route is marked at major junctions and runners must also follow the published GPS trace. A compulsory kit list applies, and participants must be able to navigate and cope with mountain conditions; night navigation is required for the ultra distances.
