Ras y Gader / Cader Idris is a mountain race based at Eldon Square, Dolgellau with registration in the Free Library. The main course covers 16.9 km / 10.5 mi and includes 915 m / 3002 ft of climb. Chip timing is used. Full kit is essential and dogs are not allowed.

The route is partially marked and organisers state that navigational skills and significant mountain running experience are required. Local knowledge is beneficial. The event has age and category arrangements: minimum age is over 18, O16 and O18 runners can use a short course with the main race, and fun runs for under 16s take place in the morning. Teams are accepted in groups of three.

Entry is online only via the designated entry system and the field is limited to 380 competitors; the entry window will open on 2026-01-01. The race is insured by the Welsh Fell Runners Association.
