Moel Siabod

Capel Curig, United Kingdom • 4 Jul 2026

Moel Siabod

The event is a fell race of 8.7 km (5.4 mi) with approximately 700 m (2297 ft) of ascent, starting from the Festival Field in Capel Curig, Betws y Coed, Gwynedd. The course begins by crossing a road and bridge onto a forest track, then follows a sequence of turns and climbs that lead onto steeper, grassier tracks and the mountain itself.

The route passes over three stiles that lead onto the mountain proper and a further stile about halfway up the main ascent. On the summit plateau runners follow a clearer line of less rocky ground before bearing right to a rocky knoll at the summit. The descent can be harder to pick up in poor visibility; the rocky knoll on the descent side can be used as a reference point before bearing left across the back. Some competitors choose to descend across grassland to the right of the main path until at least the first stile. Runners training alone are advised to keep to or near the path for safety.

The course is partially marked and navigational skills are required. Minimum age is over 16. Junior races for under 12 (over 10), under 14 and under 16 are held with a small on the day charge. The event is held in conjunction with the Capel Curig Village Festival and there is a small charge to enter the show field. Entry on the day is £5. The event is insured by the Welsh Fell Runners Association.

Male record 44:52 (1998). Female record 52:28 (1998). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
