Ras Rhobell Fawr Fell Race

Ras Rhobell Fawr on 7 November 2026 is the first race in the Meirionnydd Winter Race Series. The course is an out and back of 6 miles with 1900 feet ascent, rising through fields and tracks and following a wall to the summit. The route starts and finishes at Llanfachreth village hall.

Organisers used the nearby old school for registration while the village hall was being renovated and thanked the local council for that arrangement. Maps and safety information are provided for runners. The organisers noted in 2025 that hard hats should have been on the minimum kit list.

Runners must carry full WFRA kit as a minimum and wear fell shoes. A junior race runs on the same course shortly after the seniors; junior entry is by payment on the day at £2. Post race soup is provided at the finish.

The event includes standard fell race grading information and age category prizes. Race reports from 2025 describe moist underfoot conditions, a large turnout and organisers managing awards and volunteer teams. Course records have become harder to match in part because of the deteriorating condition of the steep green road section between the lower fields and the mountain.
