Race to the Top of Vermont

Race to the Top of Vermont is an annual fundraiser for the Catamount Trail Association, held at Stowe Mountain Resort. The 20th anniversary edition takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The event draws hikers, bikers, and runners from across the U.S. and Canada.

The course ascends the historic Mansfield Toll Road, covering 4.3 miles with approximately 2,564 feet of elevation gain. Participants may enter as individuals, teams, clubs, or groups; a Kids Fun Run is also offered. All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Northeast Delta Dental serves as the title sponsor and presents the Delta Dental Mountain Challenge. Cash prizes are awarded to the Top 10 men and Top 10 women in the Mountain Challenge series: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, $250 for third, and $100 for places four through ten. The oldest and youngest runners to complete all races in the series are each eligible for a $100 prize. Prize money for the series is awarded at the final race in the series, Race to the Top of Vermont.

The event supports the Catamount Trail Association and its chapters. Past results and event photos are kept on record. The event includes awards and a post-race lunch as part of its schedule and details. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
