Race to the Top of Vermont

Race to the Top of Vermont is an annual fundraiser for the Catamount Trail Association held at Stowe Mountain Resort. The 2026 edition marks the event's 20th anniversary and is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The event invites runners, bikers, and hikers from the U.S. and Canada to ascend Mt. Mansfield via the historic Mansfield Toll Road. The course is 4.3 miles long with 2,564 feet of elevation gain. Participants may enter as individuals, teams, clubs, or groups. A Kids Fun Run is also part of the program.

Delta Dental serves as the title sponsor for the event and supports the Vermont Head Start Tooth Tutor Program as a highlighted charity for the race. Northeast Delta Dental sponsors the Delta Dental Mountain Challenge, a series that awards cash prizes to the Top 10 men and women across the series and offers additional awards for the oldest and youngest runners who complete all races. Prize money for the series is awarded at the final race in the series, Race to the Top of Vermont in Stowe.

Registration for the 2026 event opens on February 1, 2026. All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The race supports the Catamount Trail Association and its chapters and partner organizations that work on trail stewardship and backcountry access.
