Princess Place Deer Run

The Princess Place Deer Run is a trail running event for children. It is the first event in a three-race series. The other events are the Mala Compra Hare Run in April and the Graham Swamp Boar Run in May.

The event takes place at Princess Place Preserve on 2500 Princess Place Rd in Palm Coast, Florida. The course is described as flat, with some roots, on mostly hard-packed dirt and grass. It is presented as an introduction to off-road running.

The race has three age groups with different distances:

  • 3-5 years old: 0.6 miles
  • 6-9 years old: 2 miles
  • 10-13 years old: 3.4 miles

All participants receive a wooden finisher's medal. Awards are given to the top three girls and top three boys in each age group. The event includes professional race timing, race bibs, professional photos, a marked course, a water station, and volunteer support. Post-race refreshments are served at a drink station, and participants are asked to bring a reusable water bottle. Parents are allowed to run with their children and are encouraged to do so, especially for the youngest age group.

The event organizer also runs a program to provide running shoes for children in need and offers sponsored race entries for families where the registration fee is a barrier. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
