Course Description

The course is on the Prairie Spirit Trail, a former railroad converted to a trail. The route is an out-and-back format, starting in Ottawa. Runners travel south to different turnaround points depending on their race distance: Iola (100 milers), Welda (100K), Garnett (50 milers), or Richmond (50K), before returning north to the finish. The surface is primarily crushed limestone with asphalt sections through towns. The course is described as flat.

Aid Stations and Support

Manned and unmanned aid stations are located approximately every 5 miles, with no gap longer than about 6 miles. Manned stations offer water, electrolyte drink, and snack foods, including soup and sandwiches. Unmanned stations provide water only. All manned aid stations have drop bag access. The course is noted as being easily accessible for support crews.

Additional Information

Pacers are allowed for the second half of all events. Post-race meals are provided for participants. All finishers receive a custom-designed belt buckle or medal specific to their distance.
