OUTLAST KANSAS CITY
OUTLAST is a timed trail endurance event held in Osawatomie, KS at 1400 South St. The format runs for six hours; runners complete a 5K loop every hour and continue only if they finish each lap within that hour. The listed event distance is 18 Miles.
Courses are on natural trails and include dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes; some sections may use pavement or gravel. Aid is available at a basecamp or loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event, so runners must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Participants may set up a personal tent or aid area near the loop start.
Progress is measured by the number of completed laps. Finishers receive recognition by lap count: four laps earn a “Grit Earned” patch, five laps earn a “Survivor” patch, and completing all six laps earns a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. Individual 5K times are recorded each lap; combined times determine local winners and national rankings.
Local male and female winners are the fastest combined 5K times. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events wins a $1,000 national prize. Top finishers from each city earn places in the Outlast Championship on December 4, 2027, with additional prize money for top finishers.
