Popple Shoot Trail Races - May 9, 2026
The Popple Shoot Trail Races are a set of four trail events held in Minong, Wisconsin. Races start and finish at the Wild River Campground, located at 802 Railroad St. Net proceeds are donated to local charities. The event is Trail Sisters approved.
Courses use a mix of surfaces including the Wild Rivers Trail (old railroad bed, crushed gravel), single lane ATV trails (dirt), and county roads both paved and dirt. Overall elevation gain and loss is described as minor with some rolling hills primarily on the single lane ATV sections. Course formats include single large loops, smaller loops, and out-and-back segments depending on distance.
Aid station support varies by distance. The 87K course has eight fully stocked aid stations plus one water only station. The 62K course has six fully stocked aid stations plus one water only station. The 25K course has one fully stocked aid station and two water only stations. The 10K course has one water only aid station. Aid stations offer sandwiches, cookies, fruit, electrolyte drink, water and a variety of snacks and soda. Distances between aid stations range from about 2.5 to 7.8 miles.
Awards are given to top male and female runners in overall, Open, Masters, and Grand Masters categories. Lodging options include local campgrounds and inns and motels in nearby towns. Emergency medical facilities are available within roughly 30 to 60 minutes of the race location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
