Popple Shoot Trail Races is a multi-distance trail running event held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Wild River Campground in Minong, Wisconsin. The event offers four distances and is organized on mixed surfaces including the Wild Rivers Trail (old railroad bed, crushed gravel), single lane ATV trails (dirt) and county roads (paved and dirt). Course routing includes loops and out-and-back sections. The terrain features some rolling hills, with total elevation gain and loss described as minor.
- 87K : single large loop plus a smaller loop; mixed trail and county roads.
- 62K : single loop on ATV trails, rail trail and county roads.
- 25K : out-and-back on rail trail and single lane ATV trails.
- 10K : mostly single loop with a short out-and-back section.
Aid station support varies by distance: the 87K has eight fully stocked aid stations plus one water only station, the 62K has six fully stocked plus one water only, the 25K has one fully stocked and two water only, and the 10K has one water only station. Aid station offerings include sandwiches, cookies, fruit, electrolyte drink, water and snacks. Distances between aid stations range from about 2.5 to 7.8 miles.
Awards are presented to the top male and female runners in each distance across Overall, Open (39 and under), Masters (40–49) and Grand Masters (50 and over) categories. Net proceeds are donated to local charities. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday evening at the Minong Trail Club. Lodging options include a nearby trail inn, local motels and several campgrounds.
