Birkie Trail Run
The Birkie Trail Run is an off-road running event held at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, Wisconsin. The event takes place on the Birkie Trail, featuring a landscape of rolling hills, forests, and sections of singletrack and doubletrack trails. Participants navigate the winding paths of northwest Wisconsin, including an ascent of Mt. Telemark on certain routes.
The event offers a variety of distances and formats:
- Marathon: A 26.2 mile race consisting of two laps on a 13.1 mile loop. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Half Marathon: A single 13.1 mile loop. Participants must be at least 13 years old.
- Marathon Relay: Teams of 3 or 6 runners work together to complete the marathon distance, with exchange zones at 5 aid stations.
- 10K: A race featuring a mix of ski trails and singletrack trails.
- 5K Run/Walk: A course utilizing the Birkie Trail and the Once singletrack trail.
- Nordic Trek: An 8.5 mile non-competitive event conducted on a combination of ski trails, logging roads, and doubletrack.
- 1K Kids Dash: A free event for children aged 9 and under.
Registration includes a custom T-shirt, finisher medal, and access to on-course aid stations. Post-race amenities include snacks and beverages at the finish line. The venue provides parking at the trailhead, and an expo is held on-site during the weekend which includes gear displays and shoe demonstrations.
