The Birkie Trail Run takes place on September 26, 2026 at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, Wisconsin. The festival offers multiple events on the Birkie Trail system, including:

• Marathon
• Half Marathon
• Marathon Relay (3- and 6-person)
• Nordic Trek (8.5 miles)
• 10K (new for 2026)
• 5K Run/Walk
• Kids Fun Run

The Marathon and Marathon Relay use two laps of a scenic 13.1-mile loop. The Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay include singletrack sections and a new ascent to the top of Mt. Telemark on singletrack trail. The Nordic Trek follows ski trail, logging roads, and double track, with no singletrack on the route and an easier finish than in prior years. The 10K will mix ski trail and singletrack; the 5K incorporates a new singletrack section called Once.

Registration includes a custom T-shirt, race bib and pins, a finisher medal, on-course fuel sponsored by UnTapped, post-race snacks and Kemp’s chocolate milk, and a complimentary Earth Rider beer or soda. Registration fees increase on 5/15/26, 7/10/26, and 9/11/26. Age requirements: Marathon entrants must be 18 or older; Half Marathon and Marathon Relay participants must be 13 or older. Relay teams can exchange runners at aid stations and register in gender and masters categories. An expo and bib pick-up occur the day before and the morning of the event, with shoe demos offered by Rossignol. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
