Birkie Trail Run
The Birkie Trail Run is scheduled for September 26, 2026 at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, WI, roughly 17 miles north of Hayward. The event presents seven race options on the Birkie Trail system, combining ski trails, singletrack, double track, and logging roads.
Distances and formats include:
- Marathon, two laps of a 13.1 mile loop
- Half Marathon
- Marathon Relay, 3-person and 6-person team options
- Nordic Trek, 8.5 miles on ski trail and double track
- 10K, new for 2026
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids 1K Fun Run
Registration includes a custom T-shirt, race bib and pins, finisher medal, on-course aid station fuel provided by UnTapped, post-race snacks, Kemp’s chocolate milk, and a complementary Earth Rider beer or soda. Entry fees increase on published dates; team relay registration closes Monday, September 21, 2026. Participants may transfer entries between events until 11:59 pm CDT on Wednesday, September 23, 2026; transfers incur a $15 processing fee and any applicable fee difference. No partial refunds are given for transfers to shorter events.
Bib pick-up and the expo take place Friday afternoon and on Saturday morning. Overall and age-class awards are given across events; top finishers in several events receive podium awards and select winners will receive Rossignol trail running shoes.
