Pigtails Run

Pigtails Run

Pigtails Run is an annual road and trail event in Maple Valley, WA. The 2026 edition is noted as the 20th year of the event. A December 2025 edition was postponed due to flooding and a May 9, 2026 makeup was held.

The course runs along the river and through woods and awards a piggy medal. The organizer describes the event as low cost and low support with volunteers providing aid. Weather on this course can be variable, and support is limited compared with larger events.

The event offers multiple distance options:

  • 50K
  • 50K Early Start
  • Marathon
  • Marathon Early Start
  • 1/2 Marathon

For the 50K distance the organizer notes this is not the best course for a first 50K because of limited support and variable weather. Runners attempting a first 50K often drop to a shorter distance or finish well after the cutoff. The race enforces a strict cutoff of 2:30pm. Volunteers are mentioned as part of the event experience, and the course follows riverside and wooded sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
