Pepsi Challenge 50K Nordic Ski Race at Giants Ridge

Event Overview

This is the 40th annual edition of the Pepsi Challenge Nordic ski races. The event will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minnesota.

Race Distances and Styles

The event includes three separate race series with multiple techniques:

• Pepsi Challenge Cup 50K: Offered in freestyle and classic techniques.
• Great River Energy Rush 25K: Offered in freestyle and classic techniques.
• Giants Ridge 8K: Offered in freestyle technique.

Venue and Trail Details

The competition takes place on the trails at Giants Ridge, which offers 60 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails. The venue has previously hosted events such as World Cup races, Olympic Trials, National Collegiate Finals, U.S. National Championships, and High School Championships.

Event Features

The Pepsi Challenge Cup 50K race is part of the American Ski Marathon Series and is a Birkie Qualifier. The organizing body is East Range Cross Country Challenges, Inc. (ERCCCI).

Fees and Registration

Registration fees for the 25K and 50K races increase over several periods, starting at $75 until October 31, 2025, and rising to $110 from February 16 to February 28, 2026. A youth rate of $70 applies for skiers aged 13-21 for the 25K and 16-21 for the 50K. Fees for the 8K race are $40 for skiers 18 and under, and range from $55 to $60 for those over 18, depending on the registration date.
