Peak District South & North

Peak District South & North is a two day late autumn trail running weekend based in Edale, Peak District. The event covers classic routes in the White Peak and Dark Peak and uses sections of the Pennine Way and Pennine Bridleway. It is presented in a low-key format and is in its ninth year.

Distances offered:

  • 50 km White Peak (Day One)
  • 43 km Dark Peak (Day Two)
  • 93 km Both days combined

Total ascent on the courses is published as 1439 metres for Day One and 1649 metres for Day Two. The route is not waymarked beyond fixed finger posts but runs entirely on public rights of way. GPX files and navigation notes are sent to all entries in advance. Several on-course refreshment and drinks points and checkpoints are provided, and hot food and refreshments are available at the finish. All race transport is included.

The event is held under a Trail Running Association permit and England Athletics competition rules; participants must be 20 years or older on race day. Included for entries are navigation and course notes, GPX files, eco medals for finishers, winners trophies for fastest male and female on the 43 km, 50 km and 93 km courses, and age category trophies on the 93 km. There are bookable low cost bunkroom and breakfast accommodation options, plus local B&Bs, pubs and shops in the village, and parking at the base location. A donation is made to National Trails. Trail runs nearby

A night score event at The Railway Inn in Marple on Tuesday 27th January. Choose a 40, 60 or 75 minute course, use MapRun or a paper backup, and note late entries are not guaranteed a map.

Timed lap based event on a flat 5.3 km riverside out and back near Hardy Farm in Manchester, with flexible distances from 5 km to ultra and a seven hour time limit. Medal free entry option and a charity donation per finisher.

Hoofstones Fell Race in Todmorden covers 8 miles with 425 m of climb across the Pennines, testing navigation skills. Race HQ is the Staff of Life pub where post race refreshments and prizes await; entries accepted pre entry or on the day.

Take on the Dovedale Big Daddy on 1 February 2026, an AL fell race in the Peak District covering 20.4 km with 1370 m ascent and nine steep climbs through the Manifold and Dovedale valleys. Entries close 29 January and are limited to 250.
