The Monsal Trail March Weekend features races over half marathon and 10k distances on the Monsal Trail in Bakewell, Derbyshire. The event starts and finishes at Bakewell Station (DE45 1GE) and runs across a former Midland Railway line. The route passes through four tunnels and crosses the Monsal viaduct. The trail is traffic free and described as multi terrain and undulating. Races take place on both Saturday and Sunday of the race weekend.

Entry, age limits and what is included

Advance entry prices listed at £36 for the half marathon and £28 for the 10k. On-the-day entry fees (subject to availability) are listed at £40 for the half marathon and £35 for the 10k. Entry is open to entrants aged 17 and over for the half marathon and 15 and over for the 10k. Entries receive a bespoke medal, free photographs, and trophies and prizes for leading runners.

Venue and facilities

Race HQ is Bakewell Station. There is no general car parking at Bakewell Station other than for disabled motorists; two large pay-and-display car parks are around 500 metres from the station. Hassop Station, about a mile along the trail, offers parking, spectator facilities and a café. Detailed route maps and GPX files are available for download. Enjoy a scenic two day January Half Marathon and 10k on the traffic free Tissington Trail between Ashbourne and Buxton, with gentle climbs out and easy returns. Choose one day or both and earn a bespoke medal and free photos.

Tigger Tor is a classic winter fell race from Fox House on 25 January 2026, taking runners across Houndkirk, Burbage and Hathersage Moors in a 14.2 km course with 490 m of climb. Navigation and mandatory kit make it a true fell challenge.

The Totley AC Race Series will take place in Longshaw from Sunday 25 January 2026 to Sunday 6 September 2026.

Take on the Dovedale Big Daddy on 1 February 2026, an AL fell race in the Peak District covering 20.4 km with 1370 m ascent and nine steep climbs through the Manifold and Dovedale valleys. Entries close 29 January and are limited to 250.
