Monsal Trail April Half Marathon & 10k Weekend

The event is a weekend of road-free trail races held at Bakewell Station in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Races take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 April and offer a choice of two distances.

The route follows the Monsal Trail, a former Midland Railway line. The course passes through four tunnels and crosses the Monsal viaduct. The terrain is multi surface and undulating. Detailed route maps and GPX files are provided.

Included for entrants are a bespoke medal, free photographs, and trophies and prizes for leading runners. On-the-day entry fees, subject to availability, are listed as Half Marathon £40 and 10k £35. Event information is sent to registered entrants before race day.

Race headquarters are at Bakewell Station, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1GE. There is no general car parking at Bakewell Station other than for disabled motorists. Two large pay and display car parks are located about 500 metres from the station in the town centre. The road to Bakewell Station is a no through road and drop off is not feasible. Parking, spectator facilities, and a café are available about a mile along the trail at Hassop Station, which provides a warm up route to the start. Tackle a classic spring fell race in Mow Cop on Sun 12 Apr 2026: 10.5 km with 400 m of climb across stirring hill terrain. Entries on the day for adults 18 and over, with team scoring and friendly club spirit.

A short fell race in Wirksworth that climbs to a trig point and returns over trails and fields. The main course is about 6.9 km and there are separate short and junior races for younger runners.

Herod Farm Fell Race is a classic mid-week fell run. The course covers 3 miles with 1,100ft of ascent. Race HQ at Jubilee House offers parking, toilets, and post-race refreshments.

A 230 km Pennine Bridleway trail challenge to be completed within 75 hours, crossing Peak District and Yorkshire moors to finish in Cumbria. Indoor checkpoints provide hot meals, sleeping space and water support.
