Paluma Village Trail Run - Paluma, QLD
The Paluma Village Trail Run is the final event in a trail run series held in Paluma Village, within the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics. The race base, start and finish for all distances, is at the Village Green in Paluma (56 Mt Spec Road). Paluma sits at over 900 m elevation and offers cooler conditions than the coastal region.
Distances available:
- 6 km short course
- 10 km intermediate course, approx 400 m elevation
- 20 km long course, approx 400 m elevation
- Juniors short distance options for under 16s
The course runs through rainforest trails and is technical in places with mossy rocks, slippery tree roots, tricky creek crossings and occasional trees over the track. Participants may encounter leeches and wildlife. The 10 km and 20 km courses require mandatory gear checks; required items include two compression bandages, a fully charged phone, a whistle, an emergency blanket and sufficient hydration and nutrition.
Entry fees include an electronic timing bib that competitors keep, fully marked and marshalled course, first aid support, on course photography and a post race recovery station with refreshments. On course water comes from natural running sources only. There are toilets at Race HQ, a post race sausage sizzle for participants and parking arranged around the village green and main road. Organisers may short course or withdraw runners at checkpoints for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
