Paluma Village Trail Run

The Paluma Village Trail Run is the final event in the Outer Limits Trail Run Series. The race takes place in the World Heritage listed rainforest within the southern part of the Wet Tropics. Located at an elevation of over 900 meters, the Paluma Range provides a cooler environment compared to the coastal regions.

The course is categorized as technical, featuring mossy rocks, slippery tree roots, creek crossings, and fallen trees. Because of the terrain and an elevation gain of 400 meters in the longer sections, finishing times are typically longer than on road surfaces.

Participants can choose from three different distances:

  • 6 km
  • 10 km
  • 20 km

The event headquarters is located at the Village Green in Paluma. All participants must sign in at this location to collect their race bibs, which include electronic timing chips. The 10 km and 20 km distances require mandatory safety gear, including compression bandages, a whistle, an emergency blanket, and a mobile phone.

The event features on-course professional photography, electronic timing, and a post-race recovery station with fruit and hydration. A barbecue is available at the finish line, with the first serving provided to race participants. Amenities such as toilets are located at the start and finish area.
