Pajarito Mountain Run
The Pajarito Mountain Run is scheduled for August 22, 2026 in Los Alamos, New Mexico at Pajarito Mountain Ski Area near 397 Camp May Road. The event is presented as a grassroots high alpine trail run that showcases high altitude trails and supports local resorts and outdoor recreation in the River Grande Valley.
The course starts and finishes near the Lodge and makes a 3.25 mile ascent to the summit before a serpentine descent on the Aspen For Trouble trail back to the Lodge. The route tops out at over 10,200 feet and includes about 1,350 feet of total ascent. The initial section includes roughly one mile of rolling singletrack on Lower Aspenola Trail, followed by about 2.25 miles of ascent on Service Road to the Summit Aid Station. The descent uses Aspen For Trouble singletrack with short sections on Service Road and singletrack to the finish. The route will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and directional signs. There are no cut offs on course and hikers are welcome.
Trail stewardship work and preevent course maintenance are part of the event plan, with course sweeping and trash removal noted. The Summit Aid Station is primarily a water station with some sports nutrition gels available; bringing a personal water vessel is requested. Packet pick up is at the Pajarito Lodge back deck by the Start/Finish Arch.
