OUTLAST San Antonio
OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge where participants run a 5K every hour on the hour. Each 5K must be completed within the hour to continue; runners who miss a lap are removed from the event. If a lap is finished early, the runner rests until the next round.
The course is trail based with natural terrain, elevation changes, and variable conditions. Some sections may include pavement or gravel. Runners have time between rounds to recover, refuel, and refocus.
Awards are tied to how many laps are completed: four laps earn a Grit Earned patch, five laps earn a Survivor patch, and six laps earn a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive an OUTLAST tee. At each event the top male and female by combined 5K time win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6 hour events is named National Champion and receives $1,000.
The 1st place male and female 6 hour champions from each city earn a spot in the Outlast Championship. Championship winners receive prize money separate from the national leaderboard. The top 100 best times nationally are invited to the championship.
Aid at the basecamp/loop start includes water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event so runners should use their own bottle or hydration system. Participants may set up a tent or personal aid station on site. Walking is allowed provided each 5K is finished within the hour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
