Trail Running in San Antonio

Rise El Taco Loco is a trail running event held at the Land Heritage Institute in San Antonio, Texas. The course is situated at 1349 Neal Rd and utilizes trails previously established for running and horse endurance rides. The terrain consists primarily of single-track trails featuring soft footing and sections of loose gravel. Participants travel through scenic open meadows and along the Medina River.

The event has a maximum capacity of 500 runners and offers a variety of distances to accommodate different goals:

  • 100 miles: Consists of six 15-mile loops plus an additional 10-mile section.
  • 100K: Completed over four loops of 15.5 miles each.
  • 100K Relay: A 4-person team relay option.
  • 50K: Consists of two loops of 15.5 miles.
  • 25K: A single loop of 15.1 miles.
  • 10K: A single loop course.
  • 5K: A single loop course.
  • Ruck: A dedicated rucking division.

The race is chip-timed, and participants have access to full aid stations and volunteer support throughout the course. All registered runners receive a choice of event swag and free race photography. Finishers receive custom medals or buckles designed to hold a taco, which is provided upon completing the distance.
