OUTLAST EUGENE
OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge held in Dexter, Oregon. Participants run a 5K every hour on the hour; each lap must be completed within the hour to remain in the event. Missing a lap ends that runner's attempt.
The format totals six 5K laps for approximately 18 miles. Runners who finish early may rest until the next round. Timing is recorded for each 5K and combined times determine local results and leaderboard placement.
The course is trail based with natural terrain, elevation changes, and variable conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. The event provides water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp or loop start. This is a cupless event, so participants are responsible for their own bottle or hydration system.
Recognition is awarded for partial and full completion: four laps earn a "Grit Earned" patch, five laps earn a "Survivor" patch, and six laps earn a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. Top male and female combined 5K times at the event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard and the fastest across all OUTLAST six hour events is named National Champion and awarded $1,000. City champions can qualify for the Outlast Championship where additional prize money is awarded. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
