OTT Ultra 2026
The OTT Ultra is a 30 mile trail race situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. The course begins and ends at the George Town Boys and Girls Club in Merthyr Tydfil. The route utilizes a mix of technical trails and forestry tracks, passing through the Taff Fechan Nature Reserve and alongside several reservoirs including the Beacons, Dolygaer, and Pontsticill reservoirs.
Participants follow the Taff Trail and the River Taff before climbing to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales at 886 meters. The course then descends via Jacobs Ladder to the Roman Road and continues toward Torpantau. The race is chip timed and features a marked course for navigation.
There are five designated checkpoints along the route. Four of these provide water and food, located at:
- Cwm Cadlen Road crossing (6 miles)
- Pont yr Daf car park (13 miles)
- Torpantau Train Station (19.5 miles)
- Ffynnondwyn on the Taff Trail (26 miles)
An additional check-in station is located at the Pen y Fan summit. A time limit is enforced at checkpoint 3, where participants must arrive within six hours of the start. The event is cup-less, requiring runners to carry their own drinking vessels for use at aid stations. Participation is limited to 200 entries and is open to individuals aged 18 and older.
