Trail Running in Stillwater
The Orange Dirt Trail Series takes place at Lake McMurtry, located northwest of Stillwater, Oklahoma. The event features four different trail race distances on a variety of color-coded outdoor paths. All routes operate as out and back courses, with the start and finish lines situated at the East Side pavilion by the Red Trail Head.
Participants can choose from the following trail race distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles) utilizing the Yellow trail.
- 10K (6.2 miles) utilizing the Yellow trail.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) utilizing the Yellow and Red trails.
- Marathon (26.2 miles) utilizing the Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue trails.
The event utilizes chip-timing to record participant results. After the conclusion of the races, an awards ceremony is held to recognize the top three finishers in the Female, Non-Binary, and Male categories for each distance. All participants receive a finisher medal upon completion of their race.
A post-race celebration featuring food and beverages is provided at the pavilion for those participating. For those traveling to the event, camping is available at the lake, including primitive sites near the East Side Pavilion on the night before the race.
